In 1998, with a promising career as a classical singer in the works, Cherry Duke founded YourType Computer Services, which has grown alongside her climb up the opera ladder. She began by providing private computer tutoring for writers, celebrities and entrepreneurs in homes and businesses in Manhattan and designed web sites, brochures, business cards and other publicity materials for performing artists and small businesses.
YourType soon evolved into to add Digital Design, with desktop publishing, graphic and web design clients including the Biotechnology Industry Organization, European Business Development Group, Stony Brook Life Sciences Center, Demy-Colton Life Science Advisors, the Alliance for Regenerative Medicine, New York County Lawyers’ Association, She Shoots To Conquer Productions, the Riverdale Garden restaurant and many others.
The continued evolution of YourType brings together Cherry’s marketing and design experience with her on-going experience as a professional singer. YourType Arts Partners now offers project-based marketing and communications services to arts organizations and individuals as well as specialized seminars to give young artists a head start as they begin their own journeys in the classical music industry.
YourType welcomes Dr. Risa Renae Harman as a co-founder of its Music Business Seminars. An accomplished soprano and voice teacher, Risa developed Bay View Music Festival’s annual “Thriving in the Arts” series, teaching vital business schools to musicians for over 14 years. Her expertise is invaluable to the development and distribution of YourType’s very popular entrepreneurial classes for musicians.
